The Lesson I Learned
I always find some Facebook posts dealing with someone’s trivial experience, even though no one cares in their social media universe. Is there anyone who cares how you brush your teeth? This is our topic. We cannot help but share our God if we believe in and experience Him deep within, just as we can only share what we know. This is the lesson I learned.
Long ago, I read a book about our propensity to share our beliefs. In Job 36:2, it says, “[T]here is yet more to be said in God’s behalf.” Religious sharing on social media, however, is like abstract painting. You don’t know who tells the truth. I saw a huge abstract painting about a city, according to its painter, but from my viewpoint as a lover of art, the brush strokes were more like turbulent waves. Someone said, for another example, that Christ got baptized by John the Baptist; therefore, He was a Baptist. This type of deception must not be allowed to twist the scriptural quality of our Bible knowledge. It is one lesson–albeit a deceptive one–to also keep in mind.
Depend on Christ
Warren Wiersbe gave his last sermon before he left his church. After his message, an old woman approached him and said, “Mr. Wiersbe, I have depended on you for my spiritual life.” Wiersbe replied, “From now on, depend on Christ.” “Depend on Christ!” Is such advice worth keeping?

This is the lesson I learned. Never depend on your preacher (or Christian books) for your Christianity. He might preach his questionable theology instead of Christ. I’ve been reading Christian books for decades. But reading the Bible, meditation, and a prayer for the Spirit’s enlightenment make the difference. Ben Shapiro, a Jewish intellectual, posted this thought on his Facebook wall: “There is no such thing as ‘your truth.’ There is the truth and your opinion.”
Another Lesson I Have Learned
Another lesson I have learned is that some preachers may be spiritual in their sermons but not in their political views. They argue that sermonizers should conceal their political opinions to avoid offending the church. However, social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook can easily reveal their political leanings. I know many pastors who openly support former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently incarcerated by the ICC in The Hague. Why is that? Why maintain a double standard regarding right and wrong? Relying solely on preachers or senior church leaders for your Christian journey is not the ideal path these days. The truth is in short supply as civilization deteriorates and becomes increasingly left-leaning and antichrist.
Having observed the development of Christianity for over 41 years—from the early chaos of the Charismatic movement to the modern rise of hyper-Calvinism heresy among many evangelicals within four decades—I have noticed how the spirit of deception has been attacking everything related to faith in Christ.
While Pentecostals emphasized signs, wonders, and prosperity, most Baptists and other evangelicals leaned toward predestination—often concealing this belief—with prominent preachers like John MacArthur and John Piper leading the way in promoting this ancient heresy.
A Lesson I Learned in the Life of Faith
I was still young and lacked a solid biblical foundation when our leading pastors realigned themselves, with most joining the hyper-Calvinist camp, which was, plain and simple, a predestinarian persuasion.
It is truly lamentable that those young in the faith (as I once was) are the most easily captivated by this demonic deception, which sows doubt about Christ’s requirement to believe in His atoning blood for the forgiveness of sins.
Those signs-and-wonders-addicted Christians validate their faith through miracles, while the predestinarians (the hyper-Calvinists) teach that faith is unnecessary since we are chosen before the foundation of the world.
I attended a church for over a decade before leaving due to heretical teachings, such as the claim that God does not need our prayers because He is immutable, or that faith is not necessary for salvation since believing is merely a result of God’s irresistible grace (predestination).
Let us always keep in mind that whenever our Lord Jesus teaches or performs divine acts, His audience naturally sows demonic doubts about His deity, such as asking, “Is He not Joseph’s son?” (See Matthew 13:55,Luke 4:22,John 6:42.) Sowing doubt into our childlike faith in Christ is a red line we should always confront—a lesson I learned in the life of faith.
