Abraham’s Faith and How It Works

I read somewhere that “The road to success is always under construction.” (Lily Tomlin) This statement agrees with the cliche that success is a formula. The formula to succeed—such as goal setting, resilience, innovation, etc.—is there, but to reach your goal is like a “road under construction.” If you say that running a business is trouble-free, you’re not being honest. Abraham’s secret to his livelihood has been complete trust in God, and this premise is controversial since you won’t decide on something of value without some risk evaluation. They say, “Don’t decide blindly, and then pray and pray.” But Abraham’s faith in God is just like that, and it is Bible truth and cannot be mocked by non-Christian opinions.

Abraham’s Faith in God Has Led to His Dislocation and Economic Instability

According to the biblical account, Abraham was born in the city of Ur in ancient Mesopotamia and was called by God to leave his homeland and travel to the land of Canaan. Despite the challenges and dangers that lay ahead, Abraham obeyed God’s command and set out on the journey with his wife Sarah, his nephew Lot, and all their possessions.

Abraham’s Faith Defies Logic

One of the most significant aspects of Abraham’s story is his unwavering faith in God. Although he and Sarah were elderly and childless, Abraham believed God would fulfill His promise to make them the parents of a great nation. This faith was eventually credited to Abraham as righteousness, and he became known as a “friend of God.”

Besides his faith, Abraham is also remembered for his kindness and hospitality. According to the biblical account, he welcomed travelers into his home and treated them with generosity and respect.

Overall, Abraham’s story is one of faith, obedience, and trust in God, and he is remembered as an important figure in the histories and traditions of Judaism, and Christianity (and even Islam).

Abraham’s Faith is Superior to Reason

Abraham’s faith is a powerful example of the superiority of trusting in God over relying on human wisdom alone. In Genesis 9, we see Abraham offering to let his nephew, Lot, choose which land he wants to live in, with Abraham offering to go in the opposite direction. Lot, using his own understanding and perception of what is best, chooses the well-watered valley of the Jordan, also known as Sodom and Gomorrah.

However, later in the story, God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah, and Lot is displaced because of his decision. This serves as a powerful reminder that our human understanding and reasoning can often be flawed, and that it is important to have faith in God and trust in His plan for us.

Abraham’s faith is a story of complete dependence on God. He was willing to let go of his own desires and preferences and trust in God to guide him and lead him to where he was meant to be. This is a lesson that we can all learn from—rather than trying to control every aspect of our lives and decide based on what we think is best, we can choose to have faith in God and trust that He has a plan for us that is greater than anything we could ever imagine.

In summary, Abraham’s faith teaches us the importance of relying on God rather than our own understanding and wisdom. By trusting in Him and His plan for us, we can find peace and comfort in even the most uncertain and turbulent of times. So, it is always better to depend on God for comfort and peace in the coming turbulent months.

    About Jun P. Espina

Jun P. Espina loves nature, music, painting, and poetry, but couldn’t find inner joy during his first 27 years of life. After his father’s death, he taught in college and met religious friends who couldn’t satisfy his search for meaning. In 1984, he was converted to the biblical Christian faith. He married his girlfriend, Virgie, the following year—God blessed them with three children—and served Christ as a believer in different spaces of the Christian ministry. After over 30 years of orthodox Christianity, he wrote a few Christian eBooks in his home in Davao City. Sometimes his four little grandchildren played with their smartphones by his side.
