OF BIBLICAL REDEMPTION

What is biblical redemption? It is about Jesus Christ and all He did. He will restore and renew everything that sin has destroyed, from the human soul and the human race, up to the renewal of the whole created order. Imagine Satan having access to heaven? In modern lingo, it is called a “glitch” or sort of divine “virus system” that God has allowed to exist. In Revelation 12, when Satan was about to be “thrown down,” the apostle John described God’s enemy as one “who accuses them before our God day and night” (v. 10). A New Heaven and a New Earth are imperatives to “make all things new” (see Isaiah 43:18-19; Revelation 21:5). It is the goal of Redemption.

I asked AI for some valid reasons regarding Satan’s access to heaven. Why did God allow it? Before the AI gave God’s grounds scripturally, it provided some targeted Scriptures for reference (see Table 1):

Table I
ScripturesTheme
Job 1:6-7 & 2:1“Seeking permission to test Job.”
Revelation 12:10“The accuser of our brethren.”
Zechariah 3:1-2“Accuses the high priest Joshua.”
Luke 22:31“A request for permission from the divine presence.”

Then the AI wrote:

Reasons for Access

Divine Sovereignty and Testing: Access is permitted to demonstrate that God remains in absolute control over evil. Satan acts only with divine permission to test the integrity of believers, such as Job, proving that faith can withstand suffering.

Judicial Role: Satan functions as an accuser within the heavenly court. His presence allows for the examination of human conduct, though his accusations are ultimately subject to God’s judgment and restraint.

Temporary Restriction: This access is temporary and restricted. Revelation 12:7-9 prophesies a future war where Satan is cast out of heaven permanently, ending his ability to accuse believers before God.

It is where Christ’s redeeming sacrifice—that is, His blood shed on the cross—makes absolute sense.

WHY THIS BOOK MATTERS?

I wrote this book, Born Again Christ’s Version: Understanding the Biblical Born-Again Experience, after realizing two things. First, most Christians are not truly born again, and second, I want to leave a book for my clan that will somehow help them become genuine Christians.

If you find a man who has a Bible in his hand with a history of 20 years of devout Christianity, don’t jump to the conclusion that he has experienced a born-again event or presence in his life. Ask faithful Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, or SDAs if you want to validate this statement. But it is not just about these cults, since even Catholics, Baptists, or similar Bible-centered groups have mostly unsaved memberships. In Luke 18:8, Christ said, “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”

This material seeks to bring to light the kind of faith that saves.

REDEMPTION AND THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

The apostle Paul wrote that the Father’s fullness dwells in Christ to “reconcile all things to Himself” through His own blood. (cf. Col. 1:17) Hebrews 9:12 also states that “through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.” The goal of redemption is to “make all things new” (not “make all new things”—Bloomfield).

Sin has its root cause in pride. The pride of a former angel (named “Day Star, son of Dawn”—Isaiah 14:12, ESV) whom the New Testament calls “the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan” (Rev. 20:2). (He tempted Eve.)

Scriptures declare that sin enters the world through one man. In Romans, the Apostle Paul said, “[T]hrough one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned.” (Rom. 5:12)

Arthur E. Bloomfield** tries to present the subject of Redemption from square one.

“It is with these promises that we begin the subject of the consummation of redemption, which is the burden of Revelation. Redemption is the restoration of what was lost by sin. The primary record of this is Genesis. The first scene in Genesis is the Garden of Eden. God called it good; there was a perfect world and no sin or corruption had entered.

“Man was not meant to die, although he was put in a world where death is a natural process. God made man to be above his environment, to have dominion over all created things. He was given the tree of life. He could eat of that tree and never die. The first thing to be lost was the tree of life, so the first thing to be restored is life—eternal life.” (Bloomfield. “The Key to Understanding Revelation,” p. 65)

However, the restoration of eternal life that was native to Adam’s biology during his creation also requires the recovery of the whole creation that was lost to the Devil (the “god of this world”—2 Cor. 4:4) soon after the fall of man.

Apostle Paul nailed the subject perfectly clear:

“For the eagerly awaiting creation waits for the revealing of the sons and daughters of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only that, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons and daughters, the redemption of our body.” (Rom. 8:19-23)

We still groan despite the salvation of our souls since we are waiting for the redemption of our bodies (see also Revelation 6:10). Our bodies’ redemption necessitates a renewal of the corrupted cosmic order. The redemption of the human race through the atoning blood of Christ will only make sense with the redemption of the Earth and the whole of creation.

THE SCOPE OF REDEMPTION AS REVEALED IN SCRIPTURE

Bloomfield stated that the work of the church today is just a part of the entire package of redemption in Christ Jesus.

“The process of redemption has been committed to the church. The history of the church is the history of redemption as it applies to the souls of men. This is not the day of redemption for the physical earth or even the human race as such. That is why all reforms fail and all efforts for world peace come to naught. The church is not now ‘working with God for a brave new world.’ This is the day of redemption of individual souls, not the redemption of the earth. It is the first part of the whole process of redemption.” (Bloomfield. Revelation. p. 13)

In Bloomfield’s other book titled “Before the Last Days—ARMAGEDDON**,” he noted that “Redemption is restoration to the original owner of something that has been lost.” (Bloomfield. “…Armageddon,” p. 50)

Writing to the saved believers in Christ, Paul said, “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God [they were saved because they had God’s Spirit], whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption” (Eph. 4:30).

True believers are sealed or marked for the day of redemption in its full range, which includes the restoration not just of the human soul but also of their physical bodies and the sin-caused flaws of the human race, the Earth, and all of creation.

When Christ said, “Your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28), He meant the entire component of redemption in prophecy. Bloomfield wrote that “Jesus spoke of the Rapture as ‘your redemption.’”

We have lost our souls, our bodies, and the earth to the devil.

This redemption process has begun with the cross, continued by the gospel, and consummated at the Rapture and eternal reign of Christ. The three main events of Redemption are conversion (the saving of the soul), resurrection (the redemption of the body), and the Second Coming of Christ (the redemption of the earth). (See Bloomfield. “Before the Last Battle—ARMAGEDDON”. p. 51.)

THE MANNER OF REDEEMING THE EARTH IN REVELATION BY JESUS

In the Old Testament, redemption has the meaning of a buy-back provision of the land (in the year of Jubilee—every fiftieth year) by a kinsman-redeemer, who was willing to pay the price of redemption. (Read Leviticus 25:23-28; Ruth 4:9-10; Ruth 2:20) It was a legal mechanism of returning to the original owner the purchased property.

The devil has complete possession of the earth as “god of this world.” (2 Cor. 4:4) For this, Apostle Paul warned, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12) Thus, the earth’s redemption is a focal point.

In commenting on Revelation 5:1-4 (a sealed document of the earth’s “purchased possession”), Bloomfield wrote,

“When the land was thus sold, a sort of deed was drawn up. On the inside were written the specifications and on the outside the signatures. The deed was then rolled and sealed. A sealed deed was evidence that the land was subject to redemption. The redeemer could break the seals, which was equivalent to burning the mortgage (Lev. 25:23-28). (Bloomfield. “Before the Last Battle—ARMAGEDDON.” p. 51)

Observe how Apostle John reacted to the breaking of a sealed document or book in Revelation 5:

“And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.” (vv. 1-4)

In Matthew 4, Scripture has recorded the devil offering Jesus “all the kingdoms of the world” (vv. 8-10). In the first few verses of Revelation 5, the Apostle John wept since the devil won’t easily surrender the redemption of the earth. No one was worthy.

Then, “one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” (Rev. 5:5)

From this prophetic narrative, Bloomfield declared a beautiful statement: “In Jesus, our Kinsman, alone do all these things exist. He alone is both Lion and Lamb. He alone has the seven Spirits of God. He alone is able to approach the throne and take the book from the right hand of God. He alone can break its seals. He alone can redeem the purchased possession. He alone can evict Satan.” (Bloomfield. “…Armageddon,” p. 53)

Jun P. Espina loves nature, music, painting, and poetry, but couldn’t find inner joy during his first 27 years of life. After his father’s death, he taught in college and met religious friends who couldn’t satisfy his search for meaning. In 1984, he was converted to the biblical Christian faith. He married his girlfriend, Virgie, the following year—God blessed them with three children—and served Christ as a believer in different spaces of the Christian ministry.
